BOSTON – (July 10, 2019) --- Exploring the intersection of faith, politics and culture, WGBH today launched All Rev’d Up, a bi-weekly podcast hosted by Reverend Irene Monroe and Reverend Emmett G. Price III. The podcast builds on the success of the duo’s weekly radio segment on 89.7 WGBH News’ Boston Public Radio with Jim Braude and Margery Eagan.
Each episode of All Rev’d Up will focus on issues related to faith, race, social justice or a prominent national news headline. At a time of divisive discourse on the national stage, hosts Monroe and Price work to find common ground despite arriving at the conversation from different faith perspectives and hailing from different generations and different parts of the country.
Reverend Monroe is an African-American lesbian feminist public theologian, a sought-after speaker, religion columnist and the Boston voice for Detour’s African American Heritage Trail. Reverend Price, who leads the Community of Love Christian Fellowship in Allston, MA, is a scholar, educator and public speaker whose specialties include the music of the African diaspora, Christian worship and the black Christian experience. They don’t always agree, but they always hear each other out.
Available now, the first episode of All Rev’d Up delves into When They See Us, a Netflix dramatization of the story of the Central Park Five. All Rev’d Up episodes will be released every other Wednesday for an initial run of ten shows. All Rev’d Up is produced by WGBH with support from PRX and available on NPR One, Apple Podcasts, RadioPublic, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn and other podcast apps.
All Rev’d Up radio segments first began on WGBH’s 89.7 Boston Public Radio in 2013. The earliest segments featured Reverend Irene Monroe and Reverend Eugene Rivers. All Rev’d Up has featured Monroe and Price since 2014.

All Rev’d Up is the latest podcast offering from Boston Public broadcaster WGBH, which continues to grow its investment in the platform. WGBH podcasts include Frontline’s Dispatch, Masterpiece Studio, the GroundTruthPodcast, Molly of Denali, Boston Public Radio, Innovation Hub, The Scrum, Under the Radar with Callie Crossley and On Campus Radio. According to Edison Research, more than 50% of the U.S. population over the age of 12 has listened to a podcast. An estimated 32% of the population were monthly podcast listeners.
